Ma'at is the #ancient #Egyptian #Goddess of #Truth and #Justice, the two principles that drive peace, stability, and wholesome human interaction. On Judgement Day, the feather in her headband is weighed against the heart of the deceased in the underworld. If the heart is heavier, the soul cannot return to Earth. If it is a light as the feather, the soul can pass on to heaven to shine as a star in the sky. Pretty cool!

The bird is the symbol of the goddess, as it reflects many of her gifts and qualities. Like birds, the goddess inhabits all realms; in the ground, in the water, in the air. And like the bird, she can ascend to the heavens. But most importantly, the bird is twice born; once as an egg and once as a chick. And the goddess too is the generator of the life cycle; birth, death, and re-birth. She is The Great Re-cycler.
